About Simulator Solutions

Simulator Solutions, and its cornerstone product SimStack, was established in 2014 in Sydney, Australia by John Golin and Rodney Redwin. Both John and Rodney have been designing, building and maintaining private simulators since 2002, and over the years have watched private simulators grow larger and significantly more complex.

Following a major shift in the global aviation industry, larger aircraft such as the 747-400 began to be retired and scrapped, and a number of enterprising simulator enthusiasts began purchasing entire aircraft cockpits and turning them into flight simulators. Interfacing these real aviation parts to build a simulator presents challenges and unique demands not previously seen in the simulator industry.

After being approached in 2012 by a friend who had purchased an entire aircraft cockpit, John and Rodney started what they thought would be a simple search for an interface system. What they found was that no single solution met their needs — so the idea of SimStack was born.

SimStack needed to be a scalable, flexible solution that could meet all of the input and output requirements of a modern simulator without modifying the simulator hardware. It also needed to use Ethernet to connect the hardware to the underlying simulator software, overcoming many of the limitations of existing serially connected hardware.

Simulator Solutions released their first SimStack solution for Precision Simulator version 10 (PSX) in 2014, and have continued to refine and expand the SimStack range. The company has since branched out from aircraft simulators and now offers complete solutions to the general simulation industry.

SimStack now runs in simulators around the world and is regarded as one of the most flexible, scalable and innovative simulator I/O systems available.
